What are the most common requests for prototype/research coaters?
Thank Metal Co., Ltd. develops and manufactures equipment for battery prototyping, and coaters are one of the most requested pieces of equipment from our customers.
We will introduce the most common needs for coaters used for prototyping and research, and how we respond to them. We hope that this will be of use to companies that are considering prototyping and research coaters.
In addition, there are many uses other than batteries, and we also respond to requests such as attaching a laminate film after coating.
I want to replace the coating head
There are many requests for research and prototype machines to replace only the coating head part without replacing the equipment. At Thank Metal, by unitizing the head part, we have made it possible to replace and use coating heads of different methods on the same device.
I want to dry materials faster.
We often receive requests for a coater with high drying capacity to shorten the time required for coating. Thank Metal’s standard type furnace length is gradually increased to 400mm, 800mm, and 1000mm, making it possible to accommodate up to 6 furnaces.
I would like to expand the coating width.
As research into EVs has become more active, the need for expanding the coating width has increased.
To meet these needs, Thank Metal also manufactures large coaters that can handle roll widths of 600 mm, base material widths of 500 mm, and coating widths of up to 450 mm.
IR as a heat source in the drying path
There are requests to use not only hot air but also an infrared heater (IR) in the drying oven.
Depending on your needs, we can accommodate both IR and hot air drying ovens, as well as IR-only drying ovens.
Addition of solvent recovery tower
Lithium-ion batteries use toxic materials such as NMP in their solvents, and this is a request to prevent them from being released into the atmosphere.
Thank Metal has added a uniquely designed water-cooled solvent recovery tower to its products. We have several types of solvent recovery towers available depending on the processing amount.
Safety measures for opening and closing the drying oven lid
This is a voice that has become more common as the size of the drying oven has increased.
In the case of small drying ovens, the top door opens and closes, but with large drying ovens, there was a problem that the door was heavy and difficult to open. There is also the risk of the door falling due to gravity. As a countermeasure for these problems, we have chosen a type that opens at the front for large furnaces.
